SHINE Catholic Missions presents
Welcome to HOPEWORKCAMP
AN ALTERNATIVE LOCAL SUMMER MISSION EXPERIENCE
Thinking outside of the box is what has made SHINE Catholic Missions so unique for the past 20 years. And because of COVID-19, SHINE had to hit the pause button on its 2020 summer missions. Like so any other ministries, it has not been easy facing the challenges of trying to keep it going when there's no where to go. As the new year began, SHINE had to really think hard to find a way to fill the void of the annual summer mission trip for lots of parishes. With that being said, SHINE has created something new called HOPE Work Camps. It has teamed up with the Galveston - Houston Knights of Columbus councils to offer 6 weeks of summer work camps beginning in June. It is going to be daily, it's going to be safe (as per Covid-19 guidelines) , it is going to be fun, it is going to be local and it is going to be CATHOLIC! And for youth groups that won't be allowed to travel this summer, this may be an answer to a prayer. HOPE Work Camp is designed to be an alternative to the normal mission road trip. It is designed to have the look and feel of a regular work camp / retreat experience except without the overnight stay. It will allow youth groups to attend daily mass, serve their parish community and still have that awesome retreat experience in the evening. On top of attending daily Mass there will also be Daily Temp Checks, Designated Youth Group Space, Socially Distance Seating, Live Music, Inspirational Talks, Adoration and other retreat elements. All HOPE Work Camps will be take place in G/H Knights of Columbus Halls around the Archdiocese. Space will be limited based on hall capacity and CDC guidelines. It's is open to all incoming High School Freshman thru College age students.
